Tangaliya

The Tangaliya weave
Tangaliya is a handloom tradition from Gujarat. The weaver lifts a few warp threads, twists a short length of contrasting yarn around them, and beats it into the cloth. That twist is a single dot, a daana. Hundreds of them, placed by hand, become the diamonds, borders and motifs you see on the fabric. Tangaliya House weaves in cotton only.
